Our mission
Enable indoor lighting systems that more closely approximate selected spectral and temporal characteristics of natural sunlight.
About iTechRe
iTechRe is a Finland-based innovation company developing patented lighting technologies at the intersection of optoelectronics, smart environments, and human wellbeing.
The starting question
Artificial Sunlight Lighting™ began with a simple question: if people spend much of their lives indoors, why should indoor lighting reproduce only the visible portion of the natural light environment?
Natural sunlight is dynamic. Its spectrum and intensity change throughout the day, and it contains both visible light and substantial near-infrared energy. Conventional indoor lighting reproduces only selected visible characteristics.
iTechRe is developing a broader approach.
Enable indoor lighting systems that more closely approximate selected spectral and temporal characteristics of natural sunlight.
Establish Artificial Sunlight Lighting™ as a recognized technology category within the emerging Indoor Health market.
Improve the quality and biological relevance of indoor light when natural outdoor sunlight is limited or unavailable.
The next stage
From illumination, to efficiency, to digitally controlled light—and now toward Indoor Health.
Lighting has evolved from basic illumination to energy-efficient and digitally controlled systems. The next stage is to consider light as part of the wider indoor environment experienced by the human body.
Artificial Sunlight Lighting™ combines tunable visible light, controlled NIR output, and coordinated control to create a differentiated technology platform for lighting companies and research partners.
The objective is not to replace natural outdoor sunlight. It is to bring more of its selected, controllable characteristics into everyday indoor environments.
Intellectual property
iTechRe holds three granted U.S. patents in the field of Artificial Sunlight Lighting™ and continues to develop its intellectual-property portfolio.
Extend established product portfolios beyond conventional visual-light performance.
Combine controlled visible-light and near-infrared outputs in coordinated architectures.
Enable sunlight profiles, schedules, and coordinated spectral and intensity changes.
Support partner product development, validation, certification, and brand authorization.
